Gems, Pair programming and Rails 3
This past few weeks were all about developing, worked on a couple of gems and got to try both of them out in production on one of our big applications (Rutanet). Both of the gems are on my github account (http://github.com/adriancuadros) and I tried my best on the documentation, I hope they will be helpful to somebody out there. They were done in a relatively small period of time so reusing my own code through gems will definitely become another to do after I finish up a Ruby Project.
Also I got back to pair programming with our newest team member @lalomoreno86. It’s quite fun and productive, however with all of the work pouring in from different projects I’m guessing we’ll both return to the usual Grooveshark programming in a few days. Hopefully very soon we can implement this technique as a permanent thing. I got to see first hand that it works great only for some people so we’ll have to figure out a way to include it as an optional way to work at Innku.
Railsconf is just a few days away, i’m very excited to get to Baltimore and give Rails 3 a whole week. Last year in Vegas, I met a lot of great people at the event so I have really high expectations for Baltimore (in the developer/business way, i’m guessing the gambling and parties won’t be quite the same ;) ).
Well, my first two posts were quite geeky but right now i’m cooking up something very exciting and a big change in my work/life style so hopefully the next thing I write will be about this.
